چکیده

Context. We present a detailed study of the single radio pulses of PSR B0656+14, a pulsar also known to be a strong pulsed source of high-energy emission. Aims. Despite the extensive studies at high-energy wavelengths, there is little or no published work on its single-pulse behaviour in the radio band. In this report we rectify this omission. Methods. Radio observations using the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope at 1380 MHz and the Arecibo Observatory at 327 and 1525 MHz are used to investigate the single-pulse behavior of PSR B0656+14. A comparison is made with the phenomena of giant pulses and giant

The extreme radio emission of PSR B 0656 + 14 — Is B 0656 + 14 a very nearby Rotating Radio Transient ?

We present a detailed study of the single radio pulses of PSR B0656+14. The emission can be characterized by two separate populations of pulses: bright pulses have a narrow " spiky " appearance in contrast to the underlying weaker broad pulses. The shape of the pulse profile requires an unusually long timescale to achieve stability (over 25,000 pulses at 327 MHz) caused by spiky emission. The e...

Radio Profile Instability in the Millisecond Pulsar PSR J0437−4715 due to Spiky Emission

The instability in one of the components of the radio integrated profile (IP) of the millisecond pulsar PSR J0437−4715 is correlated with the occurrence of the spiky emission in that component. It is speculated that the instability in other components is also due to the spiky emission. This might have important implications for interpreting the individual components of the IP as independent bea...

A Pulsar-atmosphere Model for Psr 0656+14

We present a pulsar-atmosphere (PA) model for modulated thermal X-ray emission from cooling magnetized neutron stars. The model synthesizes the spectral properties of detailed stellar atmosphere calculations with the non-uniform surface properties anticipated for isolated, aging radio pulsars, and general relativistic effects on photon trajectories. We analyze the archival Chandra observations ...

The near - UV pulse profile and spectrum of the pulsar PSR B 0656 + 14 ⋆

We have observed the middle-aged pulsar PSR B0656+14 with the prism and the NUVMAMA detector of the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) to measure the pulsar spectrum and periodic pulsations in the near-ultraviolet (NUV). The pulsations are clearly detected, double-peaked and very similar to the optical pulse profile. The NUV pulsed fraction is 70 ± 12%. The spectral slope of the deredd...

Is pulsar B0656+14 a very nearby RRAT source?

The recently discovered RRAT sources are characterized by very bright radio bursts which, while being periodically related, occur infrequently. We find bursts with the same characteristics for the known pulsar B0656+14. These bursts represent pulses from the bright end of an extended smooth pulse-energy distribution and are shown to be unlike giant pulses, giant micropulses or the pulses of nor...
